Polypropylene permeability activation energy

Posting by fabricio on April 17, 2008 at 14:33:54.

I would like to now the relationship (energy of activation for permeation) between permeability of carbon dioxide (CO2) in isotactic polypropylene (PP) and the temperature.

Thanks

On 04/17/2008 Composite Analytica posts: At 33 degrees Celsius, the carbon dioxide permeability, in absence of other diffusing chemicals, such as water vapour, hydrogen sulfide, methane, ethane, propane and heavier hydrocarbons such as hexane, propane, napthalenes, equals 5.5 E-12 [m3 stp / m3 bar]x[m2/s] in isotactic polypropylene with a crystalline fraction of 45 weight percent. The activation energy for permeation is 44 kilo Joule. This activation energy in relation to the permeability is applicable in the range of 270 to 325 Kelvin, and 0.1 to 10 bar pipeline system pressure.
